1.   SNEAKERS. Each year, millions of pairs of athletic shoes find their final resting place in landfills across the globe. These sneakers contain valuable materials that could be re-used. In 1990, blending creative imagination, some ingenious engineering and a persistent pursuit of the principles of sustainability, Nike created the Reuse-A-Shoe <http://www.nikereuseashoe.com> program.  Established in the early 1990s, Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program collects old, worn-out athletic shoes for recycling, transforming them into Nike Grind, a material used in creating athletic and playground surfaces as well as select Nike products.

Bring worn-out athletic shoes of ANY BRAND, ANY SIZE.

2.   RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.  Call2Recycle® is the only free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program in North America. Since 1994, Call2Recycle has diverted more than 50 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from local landfills and established a network of 30,000 recycling drop-off locations. Advancing green business practices and environmental sustainability, Call2Recycle is the most active voice promoting eco-safe reclamation and recycling of rechargeable batteries and cell phones. Call2Recycle is operated by the non-profit Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC). Learn more at call2recycle.org or 877.2.RECYCLE.

If it's rechargeable, it's recyclable. Look for used rechargeable batteries in your home that are dead or not being used any longer.  Rechargeable batteries can be found in cordless electronic products that you plug in to get recharged.

3.   EYEGLASSES. Through the Lions “Recycle For Sight” program the Lions Clubs have helped to conserve sight by providing usable eyeglasses to children and adults throughout the world. The donated glasses are collected and then shipped to a regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where they will be cleaned, categorized by prescription and prepared for distribution by Lions and other groups.  Eyeglass recycling is one of the Lions' most popular activities. Although the program was officially adopted by the association in 1994, Lions have been collecting glasses for more than 80 years.  Find out more at www.lionsclubs.org <http://www.lionsclubs.org/>  or contact your local Lions Club.

Bring eyeglasses to the Expo.  We’ll collect them for donation to the local Lion Club.  Please use a glass case or wrap carefully to protect the glasses.  Look for the drop off box in the Recycle Mall.

4.   PRESCRIPTION and NON-PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES.  Through the great program at New Eyes for the Needy, sunglasses in good condition are sent to medical missions and international charitable organizations for distribution to the poor in developing nations.  www.NewEyesForTheNeedy.org <http://www.neweyesfortheneedy.org/> .

Bring sunglasses to the Expo.  Prescription sunglasses and regular sunglasses in good condition are acceptable.  We’ll collect them for donation to New Eyes for the Needy.  Please use a glass case or wrap carefully to protect the glasses.  Look for the drop off box in the Recycle Mall.
